A solemn reception dedicated to the Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan was hosted in Ljubljana

On December 12, 2018 a solemn reception was held in Ljubljana dedicated to the Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It was attended by representatives of the Slovenian government, the leadership of the local regional government, business circles, academics, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Slovenia, honorary consuls of Kazakhstan in Slovenia.
Opening the event, Ambassador Kairat Sarybay stressed that for 26 years of friendship and cooperation, Kazakhstan and Slovenia created favorable conditions for the ongoing development of political dialogue, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation. At the same time, it was especially noted that high-level visits gave an important impetus to the expansion of cooperation between our countries.

Ambassador Kairat Sarybay noted the growing interest of political, cultural and business circles of Slovenia to cooperate with Kazakhstan. So far, honorary consuls of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Maribor and Nova-Gorica are actively promoting concrete projects of business cooperation, with the organizational support of the Kazakh-Slovenian business club a number of business delegations paid visits to Astana and the regions of Kazakhstan.
The Kazakh diplomat said Kazakhstan and Slovenia also share the historical memory of the soldiers recruited to the front from Kazakhstan, and the Slovenian partisans who fought against fascism during the Second World War. In the city of Trnovo a Memorial to Soviet soldiers is installed where the names of the passed Kazakhstan soldiers are immortalized on plates. There is a single grave of an unknown Kazakh soldier in the village of Povir who died in 1943.
On December 13, Kairat Sarybay held talks with Vice-President of the National Assembly of the RS of Tina Heferle and Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the RS Simona Leskovar. During the meetings, topical issues of bilateral, multilateral, regional and inter-parliamentary cooperation were discussed.
During the talks, measures were identified to revitalize the legal framework between the two countries and bilateral cooperation. The sides noted the important role of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation and the mechanism of political consultations at the level of deputy foreign ministers of the two countries.
