The delegation of the National Company Astana EXPO-2017 visited Austria

On 25-27 March 2015 a delegation of the National Company Astana EXPO-2017, headed by Deputy Chairman of the Board Ms. Vera Kobaliya, visited Austria in order to establish cooperation with international organizations in Vienna and promote EXPO 2017 in the Alpine republic.

In the UN office at Vienna the representatives of the National Company took part in the meeting of Sherpas of the Advisory Board on the implementation of the "Sustainable Energy for All" initiative. Speaking in front of the Advisory Board Ms.Kobaliya, noted a great potential of cooperation between the EXPO-2017 and the UN initiative. The meeting resulted in signing of aide memoire between Astana EXPO-2017 and the facilitation team of the "Sustainable Energy for All" initiative to define areas of cooperation between the two institutions.

The delegation of Astana EXPO-2017 also held meetings with the Secretariat of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) on the issue of organizing a side-event in the margin of the General Conference of UNIDO in December 2015 and with representatives of the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) to discuss possible cooperation with the OFID's "Energy for the Poor" initiative.

Vera Kobaliya met with Federal Vice-Minister of Science, Research and Economy of Austria Ms.Bernadette Girlinger and vice-president of the Economic Chamber of Austria Mr. Richard Shentz and informed on ongoing preparation to the exhibition. Austrian side expressed serious interest in EXPO-2017.

The visit allowed to determine prospective areas of cooperation with UN organizations in Vienna in the framework of EXPO-2017.
